Game Day 2023

 

In-Person Event at WEM Ice Palace

Provided:

Our Presenting Sponsor West Edmonton Mall has graciously provided the Ice Palace for our in-person Game Day and Activation Space! This will feature 100 of our fundraising gamers, various vendors and exhibitors interacting with the public to raise funds for the Stollery!

If you are attending our in-person Game Day, we will be providing the following:

  • Opportunities to win prizes for your hard work
  • Wired internet connection
  • Power
  • 4′ of table space
  • A straight-backed chair
  • Panda Express dinner
  • IHOP Breakfast

What to Bring

A To-Do List Before Game Day:

  • Update your Computer/Console
  • Download Discord and join our server
  • Download and update your games
  • Test your setup
  • Register for the event with Eventbrite

Make sure you come prepared! You’ll want to bring a few things with you:

  • A water bottle – stay hydrated!
  • Batteries/charging cables for controllers and headsets
  • Comfortable and warm clothes – it’s not that kind of LAN party
  • Any medications you’ll need over a 24-hour period
  • A blanket for when you just want to cozy up with a good indie game
  • A onesie… because reasons
  • Snacks – you will get hungry through the night!
  • Your rig – be it PC or console, don’t forget it!
  • A monitor under 40″
  • Mouse/keyboard/controllers
  • Headsets
  • A power bar with a surge protector
  • Your own chair if you feel it will be more comfortable

What Not to Bring

Please leave the following items off-stream and out of the Discord server:

  • Anything illegal
  • Substances like alcohol or non-prescription drugs
  • Weapons
  • Inappropriate content (nudity, obscenities, etc.)
  • Monitors over 40″

Transportation and Parking

Overnight parking will be available at West Edmonton Mall by Entrance 48. 

Food Information:

Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks to the event. West Edmonton Mall will also be open until 9pm, and reopen at 10am. During this time, please feel free to patronize the various restaurants in the mall!

 

At Home

Provided:

If you are playing at home for Game Day 2023, we’ll provide a few things for your 24-hour gaming quest:

  • One Discord server full of channels to meet up with other gamers and fundraisers, as well as a fun-filled stream with games, tournaments, and guests
  • Opportunities to win prizes for your hard work
  • An army of the most good-looking organizers to moderate and entertain the masses

What to Bring

A To-Do List before Game Day:

  • Update your Computer/Console
  • Download Discord and join our server
  • Download and update your games
  • Test your setup
  • Make sure your battle station is clean and comfortable

Make sure you come prepared! You’ll want to bring a few things with you:

  • A water bottle – stay hydrated!
  • Coffee – stay caffeinated!
  • Batteries/charging cables for controllers and headsets
  • Comfortable and warm clothes – it’s not that kind of LAN party
  • Any medications you’ll need over a 24-hour period
  • A Blanket for when you just want to cozy up with a good indie game
  • A onesie… because reasons
  • Your adorable pets – the organizing team loves furry friends of the Stollery!

What Not to Bring

  • Mushrooms… no particular reason, I just think they are gross

Transportation and Parking

If you have access to a garage, parking will be available there. Otherwise, street-level parking should be used.

Food Information:

Need to recharge your stamina during the Game Day marathon? You’ll have access to your pantry and fridge throughout the event!

You will also have access to any number of local restaurants for your dining pleasure. Simply call, place an order, and pay for your order upon delivery!
